Gregan Cardeno, 33 years old, a contract worker from Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay hired by SkyLink Security Agency, was reported dead last February 23, 2010 by police officer SPO3 Rangiris to Mr. Cardeno’s family. Gregan was said to have committed suicide inside a military camp in Camp Ranao, in Datu Saber town, the home of the 103rd Brigade of the Philippine Army.

Ipagtanggol ang Dignidad Tutulan ang patuloy na Militarismo

Tahasang kinokondena ng Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA) at mga kasaping organisasyon nito  ang Iligal na pag-aresto sa 43 Health Workers sa bayan ng  Morong, lalawigan ng  Rizal.

Ang ginawang raid ng military at pulisya ay iligal at wala sa hustong proseso. Ang naturang “search warrant ay hindi naman naka-tuon sa lugar na pinagdausan ng seminar (rest house ni Dr. Velmonte), bagkus ito ay nakatuon sa bahay ng isang nagngangalang Mario Condes sa Bgy. Maybangcal, Morong Rizal.  Bukod dito, ang mga inaresto ay patuloy na pinagkaitan ng karapatan sa abogado. Pati ang mga kagawad ng Komisyon sa Karapatang Pantao (CHR) ay pinagkaitan ng karapatang bisitahin (visitorial powers) sa detensyon ang mga inaresto.  Hindi katanggap-tanggap ang depensa ni Lt. Celeste Frank Sayson, Chief of Public Affairs ng Philippine Army 2nd Infantry Division. Aniya, maaring mahambalang ang isinasagawang imbestigasyon sa mga akusado kung papayagan  agad nilang ibukas ang pintuan ng mga detenido sa publiko.  Sino siya para magbawi ng mga batayang karapatan ng tao sa ngalan ng tinatawag nilang imbestigasyon? Isa pa, bakit nyo na sila hinuli kung nasa kalagitnaan pa pala kayo ng imbestigasyon?
